SUPERVISOR TRAINING

PURPOSE
Recognizing a need for leadership training among recently promoted crew supervisors at Somerset Landscape, I created a budget and time friendly training program for new leaders that led to an increase in effective leadership as indicated by decline in turnover and increase in efficiency. Training focused on two key leadership processes: team building and communication.

TEAM BUILDING OBJECTIVES
-
Develop a strategy for team building
-
Execute relationship building behaviors with crew
-
Demonstrate how crew members roles relate to other roles of the company
-
Develop personal action plan to model leadership standards in actions and decisions
-
Develop leadership skills of crew through delegation and training

COMMUNICATION OBJECTIVES
-
Develop a strategy for productive team meetings
-
Explain crew culture and recurring “ways of working” to ensure clarity and consistency while avoiding confusion and conflict
-
Set expectations to ensure important work gets done through follow -up and verify
-
Demonstrate how to communicate change in project scope to ensure systemic transfer of information

EVALUATION
Training will be evaluated on data collected from the company, and feedback from participants, participant’s managers and crew members. Feedback will be obtained through surveys and interviews. Evaluations will be done prior to the training and at 3 & 6 month intervals following the training.
Success Indicators: decreased turnover • decrease in project mistakes • decrease in customer complaints • increase in project completion rates • increase in team meetings • development of participant's communication skills.
